This was a lot of fun, but some of the imagery looked strikingly familiar to me. The precision-flying robots, for instance, conjured up memories of SKY CAPTAIN & THE WORLD OF TOMORROW--though, for all I know, that was an homage to an old Superman cartoon.
Still, I'd watch an hour or two of this without complaint. Superman has certainly been less fortunate in movies&tv than the Cowled One in recent decades. But this could change, apparently...
I'm getting pre-Sky Captain deja vu on that. But what I liked is the way they found some new things to do - the stomp down on the phone booth only to have S lift the foot! (Can't believe that hasn't been thought of sooner) - as well as giving the toy robot to the kid before taking out the killer giant one - were just wonderful, insightful, marvelous touches that made this homage more than a homage.
