New Hobbit Trailer

I don't understand the people grousing about The Hobbit being stretched from two to three films. Usually, when a book gets adapted to the screen, you hear complaints about how much was left out. With work as rich as Tolkien's, I want as much of what is on the page to appear on the screen as possible. Also, is this a shot of Sylvester McCoy? Awesome!

Yes, that's McCoy. They had released the official picture of him a few days back. There's also a story going round that has him wanting to do something Doctor Who and have Peter Jackson direct it (to which Jackson supposedly said "Absolutely!"). Don't know how true that is, but would be cool.

That would never happen but would be awesome. I wish they'd go back to the time war with Paul McGann and let him have one more outing as the Doctor (he was great, the script was terrible, he deserves one shot at good material).

I agree it won't. Still haven't seen McGann's turn as the Doctor yet, but I have it. I know he's done a lot of audio as 8, though I haven't heard what the quality of it is. I'd be reluctant to see the time war, it may be one of those mysteries that's best left shrouded, otherwise you have Wolverine (though Origins wasn't a bad story, it just cost Wolverine a lot of his appeal, in my opinion).

McGann was very good as the Doctor. The story is a horrid mess. But McGann did get to do quite a few audio dramas. The quality there is wildly uneven. I listened to the first two "seasons" and quit when I hit some that were just embarrassingly amateur. But a few of them are quite good. Throughout them all, you get to see him evolve the kind of Doctor he might have played. I think I agree with you re: Time War, but I'd love to see him show up in some form or fashion. I don't see it happen because he's not the name that Peter Davison or Tom Baker is to the British public.
